Waterworld

Commenced: June 2010

Completed: December 2010

Design Brief
Tea Tree Gully Council own and operate Waterworld, one of South Australia's largest outdoor swimming centres.  Decades old, Waterworld was in need of a makeover.  Attendances had been falling over many years and the cost of maintenance was increasing.

SWPS won the contract for a major refurbishment which included:

• Installation of a new disabled access ramp and wet deck gutters to the existing 50m pool

• New wet deck gutters to the existing 25m pool

• A new splash deck with a range of water toys

• Waterslide runouts

Of course, these refurbished and new pools needed new tiling, stainless steel fittings, plant, hydraulics and balance tanks.

The Result
The result is a state-of-the-art outdoor swimming centre which could easily be mistaken for a brand new facility.

Quality materials and equipment will result in minimal maintenance and this, combined with huge increases in attendance rates has turned around the financial performance of the centre.
